March 22, 2025 marks the 33rd World Water Day. For over 40 years, CGCOC Group has actively implemented China's Belt and Road Initiative, bringing "Chinese technology" and "Chinese experience" to the African continent. The company has been deeply involved in the construction of water conservancy and hydropower projects, helping more and more African people gain access to the safe and reliable drinking water they have longed for.

With financing support from the Export-Import Bank of China, Phase I of the Cameroon Nine-City Water Supply Project, implemented by CGCOC Group, was completed and put into operation in 2017. Phase II, an extension of the first phase, commenced on March 1, 2024, and is currently under accelerated construction.
Bafoussam, located about 200 kilometers northwest of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, is the capital of the West Region. It is surrounded by six major towns, with a total population of approximately 550,000. The Bafoussam Water Plant is a key component of the Cameroon Nine-City Water Supply Project. The plant includes a range of facilities such as: an intake pumping station, flocculation and sedimentation basins, filtration units, a clear water reservoir and delivery pumping station, chemical dosing room, power distribution and generator rooms, a booster pumping station, a water tower, as well as the installation of 393 kilometers of pipelines.
At present, the water plant produces 10,000 cubic meters of clean water per day, effectively easing the local water supply shortage and meeting the needs of residents in the city center and surrounding areas. It has greatly improved access to clean water for the local population, significantly reducing the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera and typhoid. The plant plays a vital role in improving local livelihoods and supporting economic and social development.
