On February 10, 2026, Lan Meizhong, Party Secretary and Chairman of CGCOC, met in Beijing with Dr. Brook Taye, CEO of Ethiopian Investment Holdings, and his delegation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on further deepening and expanding cooperation in Ethiopia in such fields as industry and agriculture. Gao Lei, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of the company, also attended the meeting.

Lan Meizhong extended a warm welcome to Dr. Brook Taye and his delegation. He introduced the company’s strategic layout, which is centered on infrastructure development while actively expanding into the industrial and agricultural sectors, and shared the successful experience of investing in and operating the Hansom glass factory in Ethiopia and the agricultural techonology demonstration center in Nigeria. He noted that the global food security situation remains grave and that Africa has an urgent need for agricultural modernization. With China’s strengths in technology, industry and commercialization, and with the two sides enjoying strong complementarity, China-Africa agricultural cooperation holds enormous potential. He stressed that CGCOC will continue to serve as a bridge, take grain storage project as an entry point, deepen collaboration with Ethiopian Investment Holdings, and advance practical agricultural cooperation between China and Ethiopia.

Dr. Brook Taye highly praised CGCOC for its long-term commitment to Ethiopia and for implementing a number of major infrastructure projects, especially government-to-government cooperation projects between the two countries. He expressed appreciation for CGCOC’s investment in and construction of Ethiopia’s first modern glass factory, which has strongly supported the country’s industrialization process, and spoke positively of the company’s commitment to localized operations, active integration into local communities, and concrete fulfillment of social responsibilities. Dr. Brook Taye said he looks forward to comprehensive cooperation with CGCOC in food security, agricultural cultivation, and other broader areas, so as to jointly contribute to Ethiopia’s prosperous development.
