On January 22 local time, Li Zhigang, Chinese Ambassador to Senegal, together with Dr. Cheikh Tidiane Dieye, Senegal’s Minister of Hydraulics and Sanitation, visited Diagle Village in the Fatick Region to inspect the Diagle well under Phase II of  CGCOC’s Rural Drinking Water Supply Project (formally known as the Project for the Construction and Rehabilitation of Water Infrastructure and the Expansion of Rural Drinking Water Supply Networks) undertaken by CGCOC Senegal Company, and jointly witnessed the project’s phased achievements. The project is financed with the support of the Export-Import Bank of China.

Minister Dieye highly praised the significance of the project and expressed appreciation to the Chinese government and CGCOC for their contributions in financing, technical support, and project implementation. He said that the Diagle well is an important part of Phase II of the Rural Drinking Water Supply Project and will cover 12 villages, making a positive contribution to improving local living standards and narrowing the urban-rural gap.

Ambassador Li fully recognized the professionalism and strong sense of responsibility demonstrated by CGCOC and the Chinese and Senegalese staff involved in the project. He noted that this Project is a vivid reflection of the China-Senegal comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the field of people’s livelihood, and said that with the support of Chinese government concessional loans and technical assistance, the Project will effectively enhance drinking water security in Senegal’s remote areas.

During the visit, Ambassador Li also attended a ceremony at which CGCOC donated study materials and daily necessities to Diagle Primary School. The school warmly thanked the company for the donated items and for installing water taps on campus to help improve students’ learning conditions and the school environment.

The event showcased CGCOC’s professional expertise in water infrastructure construction and highlighted the company’s commitment to social responsibility and local sustainable development, further deepening practical cooperation and people-to-people connectivity between China and Senegal.
