The full completion of the project has greatly promoted the development of industry and commerce in the border states of Nigeria and Cameroon, enhanced the friendly relations and commercial exchanges between the governments and people of the two countries, and promoted the cooperation between Central and West African countries. The project is a model of  China-Africa cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, under which China joins hands with African countries to jointly promote the connectivity.
